At Trees That Count we love trees. But not just any old trees, Aotearoa’s special native trees. We’re a conservation charity bringing together business, community and everyday Kiwis, with the vision of helping plant 200 million native trees across the country.
Every single tree counts, so whether you’re planting one native tree in your backyard, hundreds in your community or thousands on a farm we want to know! By counting the native trees which are planted each year we can monitor and measure the positive impact of the work we are all doing to improve the environment.
We want to make it easy for Kiwis to make a difference and plant millions more native trees. We do that through our community marketplace which matches funded and gifted trees with worthwhile planting groups around the country.
Our journey would not be possible without our partners and the team at Trees That Count that work tirelessly to support our wider community.
Planting native trees is one of the most powerful actions we can take to combat climate change, protect our beautiful landscapes, waterways and forests for future generations.
The Trees That Count marketplace provides a place for all New Zealanders to fund or gift native trees. This support is matched with planters throughout the country who are restoring, and growing, precious wildlife corridors or pockets of native forest, turning small projects into mighty ones.
Explore the marketplace: Learn how it works, check out the leaderboard to see who’s leading the count, or register to get involved as a planter or funder today.
From the cathedral-like groves of massive kauri and tōtara in the north of the country, to the vivid scarlet of our coastal pōhutukawa and so many others, we know our native trees are some of the most impressive in the world.
